Meet our lead instructor, Shatney Stevens

Shatney Stevens is a passionate early childhood educator with over 15 years of experience working directly with preschool-aged children. For the past five years, she has led with heart and vision as the director of two highly respected early learning centers in Plano and Dallas, Texas. During that time, she oversaw the care and education of hundreds of children—primarily ages 6 weeks to 5—and guided teams of teachers with a focus on high standards, consistency, and connection.

Shatney’s foundation in early childhood education began during her college years, where she studied ECE while also proudly serving as a collegiate cheerleader—a role that speaks to her natural enthusiasm, energy, and love for building community. Her leadership style blends professional expertise with a deeply personal commitment to each child's well-being and success.

Launching Happy Heart Academy is the fulfillment of a long-time dream: to create a warm, intentional space where children are not only prepared for kindergarten, but also deeply cared for as whole individuals. With small class sizes, hands-on learning, and a heart-centered approach, Shatney brings all of her experience and love for early education into every detail of the program.

Meet my husband, Zach Scott

Zach is my biggest supporter and constant source of strength. A proud native Texan from Granbury and a U.S. Navy Veteran, he now works as a signal maintainer for Herzog, supporting the DART TRE and Trinity Metro. We've been together for 9 wonderful years, and through every chapter—from my days in the classroom to launching my own business—he's been by my side, cheering me on. He’s a devoted LSU fan, an avid golfer, and someone who never hesitates to lend a hand to those in need.
